Overview
The University of California provides Event Liability insurance to cover certain liabilities arising from events/activities sponsored by qualified UC-affiliated foundations, alumni associations, emeriti associations, retiree associations and support groups.
To apply and receive your Certificate of Insurance within minutes, click the Apply Online button on this page. Once on Step 2 of the application, your group should be listed in the “Select your Group/Organization” drop down menu in alphabetical order. Annual Policy Renewal Notice
This insurance policy renews on July 1 annually. During the renewal period, you may complete the online application for events that include dates on or after July 1. However, your application will be held by AMBA CampusConnexions until the new policy information is available which is necessary to issue the Certificate of Insurance. Highlights
The University of California provides Event Liability coverage for events sponsored by UC-affiliated foundations, alumni associations, and support groups.
In order to qualify for coverage under this policy, support groups must be duly registered and recognized by the respective campus Chancellor pursuant to Regents Policy 5203: Policy on Support Groups, Campus Foundations, and Alumni Associations | Board of Regents
FAS Event Liability insurance provides coverage for certain liabilities arising from foundation, alumni association, and support group events and related activities.
Coverage and Limits
General Liability
$1,000,000 each occurrence / $5,000,000 aggregate; covers claims against FAS Groups for liability to third parties arising out of a FAS sponsored event.
Business Auto Liability
$1,000,000 combined single limit for hired and non-owned autos; $2,5000,000 collision and comprehensive limits for Garagekeepers coverage; covers liability arising out of the use of an automobile during the course of an FAS event.
Personal and Advertising Injury Limit
$1,000,000
Host Liquor
Included within the General Liability policy; covers hosts serving alcohol at no charge to attendees.
Liquor Liability
Additional cost and underwriting review is required; covers the host when the host themselves is selling and serving liquor serving during their event. (Third-party caterers/bartenders should have their own liquor liability insurance and provide the host with proof of insurance that includes the host as an Additional Insured for the event.)
Damage To Premises Rented To You
$300,000 (any one premises); covers claims for property damage to a rented premises.
Medical Expense
Up to $10,000 (any one person); some exceptions apply, such as bodily injury that occurs while practicing, instructing, or participating in any physical exercises or games, sports, or athletic contests. Products & Completed Operations Aggregate
$5,000,000; only applicable when this coverage is requested for events that sell products, food, or beverages.
Please note that when events are held at private residences/properties, coverage under this FAS policy is excess of your primary homeowner’s insurance and umbrella insurance policy limits.
This is a General Liability insurance policy for Special Events only. It is not group travel insurance. Check with the company organizing the trip or visit the University of California Personal Travel insurance website for travel insurance options.

High-Risk Activities
Events with the activity types listed below will be subject to additional review by an underwriter and the University of California to determine eligibility for obtaining a Certificate of Insurance.
Any Activity on/in the Water, Haunted Houses, Events of a Political Nature (i.e. Conference, Convention, Lecture, Rally, Seminar, Speaking Engagement or Symposium), Use of Leased/Loaned/Rented/Owned Recreational Vehicles.
Exclusions
Aircraft, Airport; Amusement Device; Animals; Any Watercraft that You Do Not Own that is 58 Feet in Length or Longer and is Being Used to Carry Persons or Property for a Charge; Bungee; Carnivals & Fairs with Mechanical Rides Operated by the Insured; Grass Skiing; Hot Air Balloon; Inverted Aerial Maneuvers; Objects Propelled at People; Outdoor Inflatables Operated by the Insured; Pyrotechnicians/Fireworks; Rodeos; Racing, Speed, Demolition or Stunting Activity involving any Motorized Vehicle, Motorcycle, Watercraft, Power Boat, Sailboat; Shooting Activities; Snow Sleds; Snowmobiles; Saddle Animals; Trampolines; and Unmanned Aircraft.

How to report a claim:
Report a General Liability claim here if it occurred on or after July 1, 2022.
1. Gather the Facts
When reporting a notice of loss (injury, property damage to third parties, auto accidents, etc.; related to a registered event), please provide as much detail as possible. This should include, but not be limited to, Insured Name (The Regents of the University of California plus student organization/club name), Contact Name (student organization/club), Policy Number, Claimant Name, Claimant Contact Information, Date of Loss, Location of Loss, Cause of Loss, Your Policy or Reference Number, Initial Steps Taken to Mitigate the Loss, Type (s) and Description of Damage and Estimated Amount of Loss.
